Ankara Clarke

 Ankara Clarke is a Jamaican Visual Artist, Designer, Educator and Entrepreneur who hails from the city of Montego Bay. She practices Surrealism by juxtaposing tropical flowers, fruits and plants to aid with her visual story telling. 

Although she was born in Montego Bay, she spent most of her childhood in Hanover. The flora and fauna of Hanover inspired Ankara's future artworks. She attended the Montego Bay High School for Girls and the Montego Bay Community College, where she attained her ASc. in Clothing and Fashion. She then attained her B.Ed. in Visual Arts at Mico University College. She was a Visual Arts Teacher at Jamaica College and a part-time lecturer at De Montfort University.


She has an MSc in Creative Enterprise and Management from De Montfort University, Leicester, England, and was awarded the Leicester Castle Business School Top Student Award 2020-2021. She is currently a PhD candidate at De Montfort University.

Ankara's artworks can be found at FrameArt's Gallery 22 and in homes, offices and hotels across Jamaica, the Caribbean, the United States and the United Kingdom.
